Adequate rest and allowing your body to recover between workouts ensure that you get the most out of your training plan and reap maximum rewards.
If you lack rest, poor-quality sleep may follow. Sleep is prime time for recovery, when the body carries out essential maintenance including healing and growth. Adequate sleep is essential to support mental health and hormonal balance, including appetite regulation. The recommended sleep guideline is between 7-10 hours a night.
You may also injure easily. Your body and muscles are sore during training, but not giving them enough time to recover can lead to overtraining and an imbalance in your training, increasing the risk of injury that you may not be able to control.
Motivation may also decrease. Training too much can tire your body and mind, but if you continue without listening to your body, your mood may be affected, and you may start feeling burnt out and in need of rest.
Dedicating time to rest and recovery will maximize your output, shorten recovery time, and reduce the risk of injury. Listen to your body, treat it kindly, and it will thank you for it.
